The Holt team is excited to introduce Maor Amar, Managing Partner at Impression Ventures and Holt Fintech Accelerator mentor!

Maor started with a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from McGill University and a Masters in Management degree from Ecole Superior de Commerce de Nice. From there, he went to work in finance and institutional sales for two highly regarded investment banks, working his way up with repeated successes.

As an experienced professional, Maor honed his skills over 20 years of work with both the UBS Investment Bank and BMO Financial Group. His work as Managing Director at both banks led him to advising some of the world’s largest institutional investors — something that has given him actionable insights into the world of funding and investment.

In 2016, Maor became Managing Partner of Impression Ventures, a VC firm dedicated to identifying and supporting early stage Canadian Fintech companies. Impression Ventures, with Maor Amar and his partner Christian Lassonde at the helm, closed their second fund at more than $30 million — an impressive figure for investment in Fintech in Canada!

“Our mission at Impression Ventures is to identify, nurture, and invest in the most promising Fintech businesses. To this end, we are very excited to partner with the seasoned team of professionals at the Holt Accelerator. We are confident that together we can play a role in building the global fintech leaders of tomorrow.”

He also sits as a board member for Symend Inc, Goose Insurance, and Elefant Inc., three innovative Fintech companies. As a volunteer, Maor is a member of the Users Committee for The Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, as well as a Board Member for Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School.

With hands-on experience in investing and experience working with Fintech startups, Maor Amar is a mentor our chosen Fintech teams will greatly benefit from!
